We hope everyone is coping with lockdown as best they can, certainly a frustrating time for everyone. Here is the latest news:
PLAYING DATES & TRAINING: Everything has obviously stalled due to the ongoing restrictions and planning for the season has been affected at both club & association level. At this early-stage, a late October to early November start, similar to last season is looking more likely. Pre-season training will also need to be factored into the equation. One day only formats are again a possibility for senior cricket. Cricket Victoria and Sport Recreation Victoria are currently meeting every 7-10 days to apply the rules of the day to various sporting bodies. Hopefully soon, the rules will apply to cricket in regards to returning to training and play but there is no further clarity at the moment. We will obviously adviseas soon as we learn more, including full updates for junior/master blasters, juniors & vets.
COACHING: In case you missed it, HCC legend Dean Freeman has been named as SENIOR COACH for the upcoming season 2021/22. Dean & his strong band of assistants are raring to go when we are finally released from lockdown. Seniors ensure you are prepared as practicable during this time.
JUNIOR ACADEMY: As per previous correspondence, the Junior Academy at Saxon had to be cancelled due to the lockdown. All participants will be fully refunded or credited as part of upcoming season registration.
PROCLAMATION PARK REDEVELOPMENT: The project is still on schedule to finish early in 2022 despite the ongoing lockdown.
ROLLERS & TURF WICKETS: Our two new ride-on rollers are due to arrive in the coming weeks - one for HE Parker Reserve & one for Proclamation Park. Council have been able to get a head start and are already doing some preparation on the turf wickets at both venues.
CURATOR’S SHED: A slight delay to our new curators shed will see the shed now completed in November. Note, this will not impact the preparation of the HE Parker No.1 oval wicket.
HE PARKER NO 2 OVAL NETS: The cricket net repairs were completed last week. We will revisit the repairs to the training surface when the outcome of a current grant application is known.
HCC FOOTY TIPPING: Congratulations to one our favourite sons Sam Batten for his AFL footy tipping victory. Mick Freeman and Jo Harrison taking out he minor places.
ANNUAL REPORT 2020-21: Please find attached the Annual Report and thank you to Craig Douglas for his ongoing work compiling it.
REGISTRATION: Note, a separate email will be sent to all members regarding registrations but in the meantime please register ASAP to assist with our planning. The Seniors early bird discount has been extended to Monday 20 September.
Thanks & regards,
