Heathmont CC was saddened by the recent passing of one of our great fast bowlers Ivan Barrett.
A gentle soul, Ivan was a quick left arm swing bowler who was instrumental in the club's third ever flag back in season 1957/58. Not necessarily known for his batting, Ivan made 42 runs at number 11 in the semi-final to help steer us through to the grand final.
Ivan's 1960/61 season will be remembered as one of the greatest performances of all time by a Heathmont player, capturing an astonishing 70 wickets in the A Grade division of the RDCA at an average of 7.25, including three 10 wicket per match hauls with best figures of 8/18 and 8/26. Ivan would take a wicket in his first over of every match that season.
Our deepest condolences are extended to his wife Norma and his 5 daughters, extended family and friends.
Heathmont players will wear black arm bands this coming round to acknowledge Ivan.
