We are never shy to brag about our Junior sides, and as they continue to show skill on the field, our Junior players are also demonstrating dominance off the field.
Two of our U/14 players, Hasas and Yasas Abeygunawardana, competed at the School State Athletics Championships, and their performances were nothing short of outstanding. These boys aren’t just skilled; they’re hardworking, humble, and brilliant examples of what young athletes can achieve with passion and dedication.

⭐ Yasas Leaps to Bronze
In a highly competitive Long Jump field, Yasas claimed the Bronze medal, flying an impressive 5.20 metres.
For an athlete his age, that’s exceptional - but for anyone who has watched Yasas train, it comes as no surprise. His commitment, technique, and quiet confidence continue to shine through, and this medal is a well-earned reward for his effort.
🥇 Hasas Sweeps the Multiclass Track Events
Delivering one of the standout performances of the championships, Hasas claimed GOLD in all three of his multiclass events:
100m – 14.54s
200m – 29.85s
800m – 2:40s
Three races. Three gold medals. One incredibly proud club and community cheering him on: his grit and determination are inspiring, and his success is a testament to what hard work can achieve.
🇦🇺 Next Stop: Nationals!
Both Yasas and Hasas have now earned the honour of competing at the School Sport Australia National Championships in Canberra at the end of November. We could not be more excited for them and cannot wait to follow their journey on the national stage.
We’ll be sure to keep everyone updated on their results, and hope to be able to update our community with news of more metal in a few weeks.
The events will be available to live stream via School Sports Australia.
Congratulations, Yasas and Hasas!
Bring on Nationals! 🌟
